August 28th 2008 // So I get this phone call from Ziz saying Marty is in town,,then the next thing I know is that I am a few beers deep, sitting in the parc with "Mertaw" strummin away on his 40's Gretch. Mart-Dawg was one of the dudes who moved into the Fort a few years back. Before crashing at my place last night, Mertaw crashed in the back of a empty cube van with a shirt and his axe. Man I love 1600 asa, and Party Marty.

Quick Shout out to Eve and the Nakedeye staff. They will be doing a feature on the larping photos I snapped up on Mont Royal.

So there is this old Jewish Centre a cote of my maison (thats franglais). Zizzle and I were walking by one day, and they had opened the doors to the public. As far as I could tell is that it had been closed since the 40s or 50s, and the place looked like Wayne Manor from the outside. Now the inside, is a different story. I am not sure how or why the city opened the doors to this place, and let people walk all over the inside exploring wherever they wanted, but it was crazy. The detail of the hallways and rooms, again pure Wayne Manor. Somehow we made our way to the basement of the building, and came across a pool, with white and black tiles.

Anyone wanna trade postcards? Made some more.

Somewhere very propper like England. What I learned from Nikki is that she weighs 9 stones (i think thats what she said, 9 or 7). Heres a snap that Richard took of Jeff Davis jumping into Grundy Lake, with The Heat and I already in the water. I guess you can call it a boys day out,,,, ZING!

I would like to continue this blogging session with some recent work i shot for The Heart Angel, a brand new clothing company from french designer Kevin C. We spent the day together last week talking about the campaign for Paris, Montreal and New York (sorry Toronto!).

Tuesday June 17th //
I have been somewhere in the mountains of Kelowna since Saturday. Its beautiful here, but everything closes at 5pm. Whats the deal with that? Side note: Zyanna went to Toronto to party with my friends over the past weekened, here are some photo updates I got from her trip; via camera phone. For the first photo of JB rocking Silence of the Lambs style, ya gotta sing "GOOOODBYE HORSESSSS" .

Saturday June 14th //
I think skateboarding was the first thing I ever got into when I was a kid, before RC cars, before hockey, even before picking my nose. I remember being in kindergarden and racing home from school beacsue Tony Hawk was on Captain Kangaroo, thats a pretty big deal when your 5 years old. Now skip a few years to an old fat guy whos knees cant even take rolling down a street... thats where I am at now. Yesterday I tagged along with the Studio Skateboards team and popped a few old school tricks while they were doing Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 shit in real life.

Friday June 13th //
Alternative Press is doing a story on the 23 most important bands in the punk scene. I think thats what the story is called? A few months back they asked me to use this photo of Grade I shot 13 years ago. yes I said 13 years ago. This was long before they were known as Kyle and the Scabs. I havent seen the new AP issue, so if anyone has a copy of it, and if Grade still made the list of important bands, and if this photo is featured with the story, please scan it for me and send it over so I can have a look. On a side note, when I sent this photo off to Ted (SUP BRO!) I also had scanned the pass from the weekend I was away with Grade,,, and it got me thinking. Shit these days is not even a shell of what it used to be like going to see bands play. There were no stages, no security, bands carried and tuned their own guitars, bands like underoath would have gotten the shit kicked out of them for even showing their faces. There was no tolerance for sexism or homophobia.

Heres the weekend pass.

Wednesday June 11th //
I take off to BC in a few days to shoot portraits of the golfers for IMG. Its pretty awesome since I get to chill out there with the pros and party with a VIP / All Access pass, not to mention I get to eat and drink as much as I want. Cheers to jobs like that.

While I was in Toronto last week, I shot a pic for the Partycity blog my friends are doing. They're posting stories of all the drinking their doing this summer. pretty funny stuff.

Tuesday June 10th //

Yet I'll probably break and post up a pic here or there. Heres a behind the scenes of a model taking 5, and Kris creeping her out in the background.

From Color Magazine:

a ROLLING PERSPECTIVE

"Etnies and Color Magazine asked skaters to shoot a photo of themselves from their own rolling perspective. Over 200 portraits have been collected from skaters across Canada, the United States, and as far as Japan. With the help of Fourstar Clothing, a selection of these self-portraits of pro skateboarders, artists, and ther talented individuals have been composed into an exhibitions in celebration of skateboarding."

"The show has been broken into a three-part art crawl (or roll) traveling across the country during the next six months from Vancouver (BC) to Montreal (QC) with stops in Winnipeg (MB), Calgary (AB), and Toronto (ON). Opening receptions in each of these cities take place in separate spaces at different times. Attendees are encouraged to take their cruiser boards out from under their beds or wherever they've been stored all winter and celebrate the freedom of skateboarding and embrace the roll from spot to spot."

Photographers include: Mark Appleyard, Ed Templeton, Jordan Hoffart, and Ryan Smith. Photographers Allen Ying, Judah Oakes, Ryan Allan, Dylan Doubt, Gordon Ball as well as other sweet dudes like Bob Kronbauer, Alex Corporan, Campbell (monster childern mag), Erik Brunetti (fuct), Mark Delong, Paul Urich, Sam Mckinlay, and tomonori 'Rip' Tanaka (japan).....

Friday 11th April /// Howdy! Well its that time again, a brand spanking new site. I got lazy sticking up all my old photos from the blog so I'll only add up a few favs from the last year.

I heard from the Color Magazine duderinos that the photo show will go on tour. I do not know all the dates or places, but I have heard some rumors. I am stoked to show a photos with Ed Templeton and long time photo mentor Ryan Allan.

I have been working with Simon & Schuster over the past month. A good friend has a book coming out, and I was fortunate to have shot the front and back cover of the project. Due to contracts and such, I cant say too much about it. The art director is Lisa Litwack, who is responsible for the Stephen King book covers. Wow.

Friendly Skateboards, Fontski, and myself are teaming up to bring you the new 2008 spring / summer line for Friendly. None stop emails at 4am with deep explanations about what they are feeling for the art direction. Pretty funnny stuff. As far as I know there are going to be 4 - 5 new decks. Fontski is doing a few, and I am lucky to have a Gordon Ball photo deck. I hope they end up going with the creepy photo of a certain person.

In the upcoming months , I'll be tying to tackle this french language, shooting the 2008 campaign for Mulcair (fashion line of Juliana Bennett), heading to NYC for a week in mid May for the Photo Fest. But most importantly finalizing the photo picks for "I'm So Negative", a coffee table book by yours truly.

Yo Sie, I am out in Vancouver for a shoot, I think its June 13th to the 20th. I think I may crash at your place for a few nights. Hit me up.
